How to get to Colima?

 

You can get to Colima from the city of Guadalajara or from the Manzanillo port.

GETTING TO COLIMA FROM GUADALAJARA

If you arrive by plane to the “Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla”internationalairportin Guadalajara, you should take a cab to the bus terminal (30 minutes) and take a bus to the city of Colima (2.5 to 3 hours).

If you go by bus from Guadalajara to Colima, we recommend you the bus companies: ETN, Ómnibus de México, Elite, Primera Plus, La Línea and Sur de Jalisco. There’s one bus leaving approximately each hour of the day. It’s a 2.5 – 3 hour trip by bus from Guadalajar to Colima, and the cost of one bus ticket is between $120 and $180 pesos, approximately.

If you’re travelling by car from Guadalajara to Colima, we recommend you to take the Lopez Mateos Avenue, heading to the south which will take you straight to the Guadalajara - Colima freeway, the distance is 205 Km and it’s a 2 – 2.5 hour drive. There are two tax booths along the freeway, and you have to pay approximattely $90 on each one.

You can also take the tax-free highway to Colima, its 220 Km and its a 2.5 – 3 hour drive. There are no tax booths, there are a lot of curves and you’ll have to drive extra carefully.

GETTING TO COLIMA FROM MANZANILLO

If you arrive by plane to the “Playa de Oro” international airport in Manzanillo, you should take a cab to the bus terminal (40 minutes) and there take a bus to the city of Colima (1.5 hours).

If you travel by bus from Manzanillo to Colima, we recommend you the bus companies: ETN, Ómnibus de México, Élite, Primera Plus, La Línea y Sur de Jalisco. There’s one bus leaving approximately each hour of the day an it’s a 1.5 hour trip by bus to get to Colima. The cost of one bus ticket is between $50 and $80 pesos, approximately.

If you trave by car, we recommend you to take the Miguel de la Madrid Coastal Boulevard, which will ake you straight to the Manzanillo – Colima Freeway, the distance is 95 Km and it’s a 1 – 1.5 hour drive by car. There’s one tax booth, where you have to pay around $95 pesos.
You can also come to Colima by taking the tax-free highway, it’s 98 km way and a 1.5 hour drive by car, and there are no tax booths.
